Mars has ice caps at both poles. The ice caps are surrounded by large areas of sand dunes. The ice caps are made mostly of frozen carbon dioxide gas, along with some water ice. There is some water on Mars although there isn't any liquid water. Water vapor is in the air in small amounts. Frozen water is under the soil and at the polar caps.
